Faith in Action: IOM Chief Mohammed Abdiker Visits Muslim Charity in Retford
Muslim Charity recently welcomed Mohammed Abdiker, Chief of Staff at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to its Retford headquarters at Eaton Hall. The visit highlighted the growing Muslim Charity and IOM humanitarian partnership, a global initiative focused on tackling urgent crises such as human trafficking, modern slavery, and displacement.
During the visit, discussions underscored the importance of faith-based giving, with Zakat and Sadaqah recognised as some of the largest sources of humanitarian financing worldwide. Through the Islamic Philanthropy Fund, both organisations are uniting resources to bring dignity, protection, and relief to millions of vulnerable people.
At a local level, the delegation also explored Muslim Charity’s Happy to Chat benches initiative, designed to reduce loneliness and foster stronger community bonds across Bassetlaw. This balance of local action and global commitment truly reflects Muslim Charity’s mission: compassion in action.
